How to Stay Fit While Living and Traveling in an RV

When the Odds Are Against You
I’m writing this article while it’s pouring outside. It’s been pouring most of the day, and we haven’t left the RV. This is a major downer considering Kevin and I just started P90X and haven’t missed a day in 30 days. We can’t put the video on inside the camper – there isn’t enough room for kicks, jumps or lunges.
Fortunately, there are a few options for fitness despite the rain and I’m determined to make it work. So here’s a run down of what you can do to stay fit while on the road – rain or shine.
RV Park Recreation Room
If you are camped out at an RV park, find out if they have a recreational room you can use. Ask about the schedule and see if there is an open spot during the day so you can bust a move.
Local Gym
Do a Google search and find local gyms near your area. Check out their websites and see if they offer daily or weekly passes. Some gyms even offer the first few workouts free of charge.
Park Shelters
Scope the area for a public park with a picnic shelter. Often times you can rearrange the picnic tables to create an open space for a workout. If not, get creative and use the benches to your advantage for dips, step ups, and more.
Give it All You Got
So, as I type the rain is letting up a bit – but the ground is wet and muddy all around us. I’m not going to let this get in the way of my workout routine, though. Instead, I’m packing up the car with my gear and headed out to find a dry place to get in shape.
