Kurpe Diem is a lifestyle. It’s about living a great story! A story where the characters aren’t afraid to take risks, face challenges, build relationships or do what’s right in order to make a difference in their own life and the lives of those around them.
It’s a spin off of the Latin term Carpe Diem, which means to Seize the Day.
Our philosophy is that if you want to live a great story then you must be willing to live out four basic principles:
Take Care of Yourself
This might seem a little selfish, but as you follow our story you’ll understand that taking care of yourself first is the critical component to a Kurpe Diem lifestyle. It’s nearly impossible to seize the day if you’re tired, lethargic, sick, or stressed out. In order to live a good story, it’s important to consider your physical, mental, spiritual and financial health and wellness.
Build Meaningful Relationships
Every good story needs a handful of supporting characters. They add dimension. Long-lasting relationships like those with a spouse, family or friend can enrich our life experiences. Sure, every now and again they create conflict, but that always lends to a beautiful story.
Serve and Give to Others
Serving and giving is an act of love. It’s about showing others you care and accept them. Yet, despite what you can do for other people, serving and giving is mostly about transforming your own heart and mind. When you realize it’s not all about you, life takes on a new meaning. A new story begins to unfold – one that is humble, authentic and open to receive the simple joys of life.
Live Adventurously
Every story needs an inciting incident to trigger a bit of conflict and action. To really experience the fullness of life you must be willing to take risks and experience new things. So get up and do something fun and different because today will never be here again!
In pursuit of a KurpeDiem lifestyle, we sold our possessions and moved into a recreational vehicle on November 15th, 2010 and took our life and careers on the open road. In March 2011, we packed up our camping gear and surfboards and headed to Europe for more adventures. This blog is our platform for sharing our story with you. We offer helpful tips for healthy living, discuss relationship issues, give new ideas for serving others and share stories of our adventurous life on the road. Our goal is to share our story and those of the people we meet along the way to inspire you to start living a great story of your own!
